Volunteer Caseworkers required in Ceredigion for the RAF Assocaiation
Beschreibung
The RAF Association, the charity which supports the RAF family is looking for caring people to join its team of trained volunteers. The RAF family includes serving and former serving personnel and their dependants.
A Caseworker is someone who carries out welfare work for the RAF Association. Welfare work is about making a visit and listening to an individual to assess their needs to find out how the Association can provide help and support to them. Support can include anything from helping put a client with a recent disability in touch with social services in order for them to put in an application for a downstairs wet room to putting in an application to the RAF Association for funding for a new kettle for a client who cannot afford to replace their broken one.
Caseworker volunteers need to be caring and empathetic, with the ability to build a rapport with others and put them at ease through a friendly and sensitive approach.
In addition Caseworker volunteers will need to have:
• Good IT Skills and access to the internet
• The ability to travel to a client’s home either using public transport or their own vehicle.
Volunteers should be able to work confidentially, in a non-judgmental manner and in line with the RAF Association Volunteer Agreement.
Volunteers should expect to commit to around two hours a week, although this will depend on the case load in their area and there will be quieter and busier times. The Association cannot guarantee the amount of cases a volunteer will have as it is difficult to predict when and where a beneficiary will need support. Volunteers report to the Area Welfare Officer (AWO) and will be required to submit reports detailing outcomes of their visits.
All volunteers are required to attend the Accredited Level One Welfare training course. Volunteers will receive a recognised qualification after the training. The course is free and expenses will be covered.
For volunteers using their own vehicle to carry out the role, they must ensure that they have the appropriate insurance in place. Travel expenses will be reimbursed in line with the Association’s volunteering policies.
Volunteer must be 18 years of age or over.
An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
Volunteers undertaking the Caseworker role should be 18 or over. We welcome applications from all areas of the community and will cover expenses for travel and other related costs involved in volunteering for the RAF Association.
The ability to travel, either using public transport or your own vehicle/means, is important for this role as Caseworkers will need to travel to various locations, including to clients' homes.
Hours are flexible to suit a volunteer and client visits can be undertaken during evenings and weekends if needed.
