Description
For sale is my Mitsubishi L200 Warrior
I have owned this truck for 4 years and it has been a great work horse. I used it to carry tools around for working as a joiner and used as my daily drive but as I have changed job, I no longer need it.
History
I bought this pickup from a dealer in Perth. It has been spot on and only required small amounts of work for its MOTs over the years.
The mileage on it is 175500 miles but don't let that put you off. Last year, due to a faulty thermostat, the engine overheated and cracked a piston and cylinder head so I decided to have a new (brand new, no mileage) engine fitted along with a new thermostat, clutch, all belts, water pump, and alternator and injectors.
For its last MOT it needed its brakes overhauled so it had 2 new discs on the front, one new caliper (other side was done the previous year) new shoes and pads, wheel cylinders, and pipes. New engine has done 15000 miles and was all done by my local garage.
I bought a set of BF Goodrich all terrain tyres which still have really good tread. Brilliant tyres, fantastic in the snow especially in 4 wheel drive, high and low ratios.
The conversion
About a year ago I converted the pickup to run on veg oil. I bought the conversion kit from 'biotuning' website and had it installed professionally at my local garage. I did this as I was traveling many miles (about 25000 a year)and wanted to save a bit of money. I got all my info from 'vegoilcar' which is a great website.
The conversion consists of a separate fuel tank for diesel in the back, this is used to start the truck. Once the engine is warm, I switch the fuel supply over to the main tank where the veg oil is. Now that the engine is hot, the veg oil travels through a heated fuel filter then through a heat exchanger to make it nice and runny then it goes to the injectors. I have a switch by the gear stick to switch it between tanks. I change it back to diesel about a mile before I get to my destination so that diesel is in the injectors ready for a cold start.
I have run this successfully for over a year and have saved thousands of pounds on fuel. I get my veg oil from my local pub then filter it down to 1 micron (fuel filter is 10 microns so its super clean). When I don't have enough I buy from Costco at 62p per litre. Almost half price than the pump making it very cheap to run! All 100% legal.
If you buy the truck I can give you my filtering system and about 100 litres of ready to use veg oil. I will be more than happy to show you the entire filtering process from start to finish so that if you choose to use the veg oil system, you are confident in what you're doing.
Bad bits
Seats are a bit worn, still comfy but it can be expected with the use its had.
Carpet at the drivers footwell worn.
Air con doesn't work.
Rusty tail gate.
Smells like food outside of the truck when using veg oil - not sure if its a bad thing - I quite like it!
If you have any questions, please let me know. If you are interested you may come round and we can go for a test drive.
