The Marie Curie Internship programme is a 12 week voluntary placement offering an exciting and unique opportunity to make a difference to individuals and families living with a terminal illness.
This placement is for up to 3 days per week between Monday and Friday and begins on 19th September 2016 until 9th December 2016.
The Great Daffodil Appeal is Marie Curie’s flagship fundraising campaign. Every year thousands of daffodil boxes are delivered to shops and businesses and thousands of volunteer collectors hit the high streets and supermarkets to accept donations from the public in exchange for a daffodil pin.
The Great Daffodil Appeal requires a huge amount of local coordination, and we’re looking for a committed and passionate intern to support the busy Community Fundraising team with planning, promotion, administration and logistics.
If you’re looking for hands-on experience of being part of a major fundraising campaign, then this is a great opportunity for you! You’ll be based in the Marie Curie office in Leith, working with the Community Fundraising team covering various parts of Scotland.
What you will do:
Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks: ?
-Research new opportunities and initiate relationships with decision makers. ?
-Assist with the recruitment and coordination of volunteers. ?
-Book sites for Great Daffodil Appeal collections in targeted locations. ?
-Seek collection and entertainment permits from a variety of locations. ?
-Follow-up with collection applications on the telephone and by email. ?
-Assist with PR and social media. ?
-Respond to enquiries from members of the public and volunteers. ?
-Seek opportunities for adding value to collections such as booking depots, organising entertainment, refreshments or car parking. ?
-Send confirmation letters and council applications. ?
-Collate packs of paperwork related to collections, and organise distribution of promotional materials. ?
-Attend and contribute to fundraising team meetings. ?
-Help with other related tasks when necessary.
