Description
For sale is my gorgeous 1999 986 2.5 Boxster in "triple blue" (Ocean blue metallic, blue cloth roof and blue leather interior) with 115k and 5 former keepers.
I bought this car in Spring this year to fulfill my fancy for the flat-six, Porsche experience as well as a bit of summer, roof down fun. All I can say it that over the 3000 miles I have put on this car, it's met all of my expectations and taken me on some brilliant adventures along the way including the Isle of Skye, Cairngorms and the Borders. It is a seriously cared for car - I feel the photos say it all. No expense spared and I have the car detailed regularly and also detail it myself on occasion.
I am an enthusiast and have owned many 'proper' cars including a 944 S2 and pride myself on seeking out the best examples against a realistic price. I searched for months for the right Boxster, drove plenty (and turned them down) and eventually went for this one here which was by far and away the best available. Those cars included lower mileage cars and later 2.7 and S variants! And I proudly chose the humble 2.5 over any of those as I preferred the drive of this one so much more - even after all of the spiel online about the 2.5 being 'under powered'. This is still a 200bhp car with a low kerbweight...
The cherry on top of the cake was the fact that the 2.5 really is the most reliable. The old saying of 'Porsche say themselves that the 2.5 is 8 x less likely to have any IMS or RMS failure' does ring true. If you haven't done your homework, go and see if you can find any documentation of a 2.5 having these issues.

Work I have had done in my ownership:
A full major service at my trusted Porsche Specialist P 4 Porsche including spark plugs.
I cleaned and treated the fabric roof.
Due to some unsightly scratches on the rear of the car (bumper and bootlid), I had them fully stripped and resprayed in the original colour by Revolution Painwork in Alloa. The job was a testament to their work and the finish stunning.
I wanted the car to be as perfect as possible and, as a result, I have spend well into four figures just in my ownership getting the car to where I wanted it. The previous owners have also spent thousands themselves keeping this car up to the standard it is today.
The interior is in very good condition and very presentable.
The roof functions perfectly and is in great condition.
The bad points (because every car has them):
Gearknob and gaiter is a little threadbare.
Slight squeak from rear suspension bush
Overall paintwork is 9/10 - some small scratches and marks due to age. No rust.
Slight wobble through brake pedal due to uneven layer of pad material on disc. As previously stated, discs and pads are new.
The aforementioned issues have not been addressed as my free time is precious and my work is restrictive. That is all.
I have been very honest and I hope you can appreciate that this car is cut above the majority of the rest for sale. I searched for a long time for this car and bought entirely on the driving experience and condition, not mileage. This car performs better than most cars of half the mileage due to such a thorough service history and unparalleled care.
I feel the price I ask is very fair and reflects these facts. There will be cheaper cars that are newer with lower mileages and the larger engines, but there will be a reason why.
My Boxster is an honest, exceptionally cared for car that deserves a caring next owner. My only reason for selling that, as an enthusiast, I have a long list of cars which I would like to own and cannot justify keeping them all.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions and i'd be happy to chat!
I am resisting saying no offers as I feel the car is worth every penny but I will say only very, very near offers will be considered if you are genuine as I will happily hold on to the car.
Thank you.
